Replace One or Several Missing Teeth
Partial Dentures in Guelph
A partial denture fills the gaps left by missing teeth and clips onto the natural teeth you still have. It keeps those teeth from drifting, restores your chewing and fills out your smile.

Three Types of Partial Dentures
Cast Metal Partial
A thin, strong chrome-cobalt frame with small clasps. It is the most stable and longest-lasting option, and the slimmest in the mouth.
Acrylic Partial
Made entirely of pink acrylic with wire clasps. Faster and more affordable, and easy to add teeth to later. Often used as a transitional denture.
Flexible Partial
A soft, gum-coloured nylon base with no metal clasps showing. Very comfortable and discreet, but harder to adjust or reline.

Why Replacing Missing Teeth Matters
When a tooth is lost, the teeth beside it lean into the space and the opposite tooth can grow out of its socket. Over time that changes your bite and puts extra load on the teeth you have left. A partial denture holds everything in place, spreads chewing forces and protects your remaining teeth.
Partial Dentures With CDCP
The Canadian Dental Care Plan covers acrylic partial dentures every 5 years and cast metal partial dentures every 8 years. Partials require preauthorization. After your exam, we send the treatment plan to Sun Life and call you as soon as it is approved. Details on CDCP denture coverage.
Caring for a Partial Denture
- Remove it to clean it, and brush your natural teeth well, especially the ones the clasps hold.
- Insert it with your fingers, never by biting it into place, so the clasps do not bend.
- Keep it in water or a soaking solution when it is out of your mouth.
- If you lose another tooth, call us: acrylic and cast partials can often have a tooth added.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which partial denture is best?
For most people, a cast metal partial is the most stable and lasts longest. Flexible partials are the most discreet, and acrylic partials are a good short-term or budget option. We recommend one after examining your teeth.
Can clasps be hidden?
Clasps are placed on the least visible teeth whenever possible. A flexible partial uses gum-coloured clasps that blend in.
Does CDCP cover flexible partial dentures?
CDCP covers acrylic and cast metal partials, with preauthorization. Whether another material is covered depends on the plan rules at the time, so we confirm it before starting.
