Daily Cleaning Routine

  1. Rinse the denture after meals to remove food.
  2. Brush it once a day with a soft denture brush and mild soap or denture paste. Regular toothpaste is too abrasive.
  3. Soak it overnight in water or a denture cleanser.
  4. Clean your mouth: brush any natural teeth, and gently brush your gums and tongue.

Clean over a folded towel or a sink full of water. Most broken dentures we repair were dropped on a hard surface.

Eating With New Dentures

  • Start with soft foods like eggs, fish, pasta and cooked vegetables.
  • Cut food into small pieces and chew on both sides at the same time.
  • Bite with the side teeth rather than the front teeth.
  • Be careful with very hot drinks: the denture can hide how hot they are.
  • Sticky and very hard foods are best avoided, especially in the first weeks.

Comfort and Sore Spots

Small sore spots are common in the first days. Do not try to file or bend the denture yourself. Call us for an adjustment: it usually takes only a few minutes. If a denture that used to fit well starts to rub or feel loose, it may need a reline.

Regular Checkups

Even if everything feels fine, have your denture and gums checked about once a year. We look for worn teeth, changes in fit and any irritation, and fix small problems before they become bigger ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I clean my denture with toothpaste?

It is better not to. Regular toothpaste is abrasive and leaves scratches where stains and bacteria build up. Use mild soap or a denture paste.

Should I soak my denture in hot water?

No. Very hot or boiling water can warp the acrylic. Use cool or lukewarm water.
