Common Denture Repairs
Cracked or Split Base
The acrylic is rejoined and reinforced. Dropping a denture in the sink is one of the most common causes.
Broken or Missing Tooth
A matching tooth is bonded back into place, in the same shade and position.
Broken Clasp on a Partial
Clasps can often be replaced, and sometimes a tooth can be added if you lost another one.
Please avoid home glue kits. Super glue and similar products can damage the acrylic and make a proper repair harder or impossible.
What Is a Denture Reline?
Your gums and jaw bone slowly change shape over time, but the denture does not. A reline adds new material to the fitting surface so it matches your gums again. It restores suction, reduces rubbing and is much less expensive than a new denture.
- Hard reline: durable acrylic, the standard choice for most dentures.
- Soft reline: a cushioned liner for sensitive or very thin gums.
- Temporary liner: used while gums heal after extractions.
Signs Your Denture Needs a Reline
- You need more adhesive than before.
- Food gets trapped under the denture.
- Sore spots keep coming back.
- The denture drops or clicks when you talk.
If the teeth are badly worn or the denture is more than 7 or 8 years old, a new complete denture may be the better investment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a denture repair take?
It depends on the damage. Some simple repairs are quick, while relines and larger repairs need the denture to stay with us longer. We tell you the timing when you call.
Should I fix my denture with glue at home?
No. Household glues can damage the acrylic and irritate your gums, and they make a proper repair more difficult.
How often should a denture be relined?
Usually every 2 to 3 years, or sooner if it feels loose. CDCP covers one reline every 24 months.
