Guelph denture clinic answers questions about CDCP and dentures

CDCP and Cost

Does your Guelph clinic accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

Yes. We accept CDCP and bill the plan directly. Bring your Sun Life member card to your first visit.

How much does CDCP pay for dentures?

It depends on your adjusted family net income: 100% of the CDCP fee guide under $70,000, 60% from $70,000 to $79,999 and 40% from $80,000 to $89,999. At $90,000 or more you are not eligible.

Which dentures need preauthorization?

Partial dentures and immediate dentures. Complete dentures do not. We send the preauthorization for you.

How much do dentures cost without insurance?

It depends on the type of denture and materials. After your free consultation you receive a written estimate before any work begins.

Getting Dentures

How many appointments does a new denture take?

Usually four to five: consultation, impressions, bite record, wax try-in and delivery, plus follow-up adjustments.

Will I be able to eat normally?

Most people return to a varied diet after a few weeks of practice. Start with soft foods and move to firmer foods as you get used to the denture.

Will dentures change how I speak?

Some words may sound different for the first days. Reading aloud helps, and most people speak normally within a couple of weeks.

Fit, Repairs and Care

Why is my denture loose?

Your gums and bone change shape over time. A reline usually restores the fit. If the denture is old or worn, a new one may be better.

Can a broken denture be fixed?

Most cracks, broken teeth and broken clasps can be repaired. Avoid home glue, which can make a proper repair harder.

How long do dentures last?

Typically 5 to 8 years, with relines in between. CDCP covers new complete dentures every 8 years.
