Snap-On Dentures for a Secure Fit

Implant-Retained Dentures in Guelph

An implant denture snaps onto two or more dental implants, so it stays in place when you eat and talk. It is the most common fix for a lower denture that keeps lifting or sliding.

Who Benefits From an Implant Denture

  • People whose lower denture moves when they chew or speak.
  • Patients with a lot of bone loss, where a regular denture has little to hold on to.
  • Anyone who wants to stop using denture adhesive.
  • People who want to bite into firmer foods with more confidence.

How an Implant-Retained Denture Is Made

The implants are placed in the jaw by a dentist or oral surgeon and left to heal. After that, we make a denture with attachments (locators or a bar) that click onto the implants. The denture is still removable for cleaning, but it no longer depends only on suction and gum contact.

Locator Attachments

Small snaps on each implant. Simple, easy to clean and the most common option for two implants.

Bar Attachment

A metal bar joins the implants and the denture clips onto it. Very stable, often used with three or four implants.

Coverage and Cost

Implant-supported dentures are not covered by CDCP. The implants themselves are placed and billed by the surgeon, and the denture part is billed by our clinic. During your consultation we explain the steps and give you an estimate for the denture.

If implants are not an option right now, a well-made complete denture, which CDCP does cover, can still give you a good fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my current denture be converted to snap onto implants?

Sometimes. If your denture is in good condition and fits well, attachments can be added to it. Otherwise, a new denture gives the best result.

How many implants do I need?

Two implants are often enough for a lower snap-on denture. Upper dentures usually need more. The surgeon decides based on your bone.

Does CDCP pay for implant dentures?

No. Implant-supported dentures are not covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
